Well, Dr. Seuss, I decided to pack up all my stuff from home only a couple of days after graduating college and move three hours away from everyone and everything I knew. Talk about mildly traumatizing. The only thing more traumatizing was the fact that all of my stuff had to fit in this 600-square-foot apartment with little to no storage space. Not to mention the fact that I was on a very strict budget from just starting life on my own. Think: lots of ramen noodles and canned ravioli.
So, to set the stage for upcoming posts in my newer, larger apartment, I thought I would lay out some history:
As you can see, I was living a pretty minimalistic life and was perfectly content to do so. However, over time, my interest in making a space more unique, vibrant, and creative has increased exponentially. Some would call this taking on more of a "housewife mentality" while I would just call it growing up and becoming more awesome.
Fast forward about a year and you'll find me (and Alex, Misty, and Tuukka) in a larger, more open, slightly slanted old farmhouse apartment. In addition to having 400-square-feet more to decorate and mess around with, we also have a much larger bathroom, a spare bedroom, and a long hallway. Here are some pictures from the (cold) day we signed our lease back in April:
