Times They Have A-Changed

So much has happened in the past year or so that I don’t even know where to begin… I was in love, now I’m not. I lived in Massachusetts, but always felt the pull to return to cow country, so I packed up all my belongings, my cats, uprooted and returned. That was probably the most enlightening thing that I have done in the past three years since college, because now I am surrounded by love everywhere I turn. I’m almost drowning in it, and wouldn’t have it any other way. But enough of that mush… let’s talk home!

My new place was built in 1850, so when I talked about the old farmhouse we used to live in having angled floors… man, did I not really know what an old floor looked like. If you drop a piece of food from the dining room table (I’m so adult – I have a formal dining room now!) it’ll probably roll out the front door in the other room. But honestly, I wouldn’t have it any other way. The hardwood floors are original, I have two amazing marble fireplaces that add an otherworldly element to both the living and dining rooms, and large floor-to-ceiling windows.

Misty and Tuukka (and my rugrat niece, nephews, and cousin Evan) love having a long straightaway of a hallway down which they can sprint head first as fast as possible. The kids especially love doing this while squealing at the top of their lungs, making their Auntie Quinn slightly insane but more respectful of the patience that my own parents must have had to deal with my loud mouth (thanks Daddy and Mahj!). But not respectful enough to stop buying my little niece Penelope toys that repeat loud noises over and over – because I love my sister too much to take that away from her.

That decorating itch that I started to feel in Hopkinton? Yeah, it’s back and with a vengeance! The difference is that now I get to decorate for myself and make 100% of the decisions about what goes where. Between that and hiking mountains (my latest obsession with my bae, TanTan), I feel so fulfilled I could literally burst! It also helps that my new job is amazing – my coworkers are so friendly and open, I’m learning something new each day, and networking with amazing people around the country! I even get to travel to a conference next month on the West Coast. Somebody pinch me.

Okay, that was my rapid fire update! I’ll be sure to post more often (and I mean it this time!).
